Lawnchair v1 stable is out, brings Pixel Launcher features to any Android

Lawnchair is a customizable launcher based on the Pixel Launcher. It’s been in the works for about a year now, and Lawnchair v1 stable has just been released. Lawnchair boasts a huge amount of features over similar launchers, such as the Rootless Pixel Launcher. That’s not to say it’s any better, it’s just made differently. Lawnchair is a separate application under a different package name with features ported from the Pixel Launcher over to it. This also meant that it could be released on the Google Play Store. You can check out XDA TV’s review of the initial release below. Note that for now, it isn’t guaranteed to work on Android Oreo. I had no issues, but that doesn’t mean you won’t either. I am running it on OxygenOS 5.0.3 on the OnePlus 3 without any issues.

Lawnchair Stable v1 Features and Screenshots

  • Google Now (a.k.a. Google Feed) integration (Requires the Lawnfeed add-on app)
  • Android Oreo shortcuts and notification dots
  • Icon Pack support
  • Variable Icon Size
  • Custom Grid Size
  • Dock Customization
  • Adaptive Icons (For Nougat & above)
  • Optional Blurry UI for pretty much everything
  • And much more!

Lawnchair has an AMOLED mode which I’ve enabled here.

As you can see, there’s a huge amount of features present in Stable v1. The ability to use the Google Now page is obviously the biggest thing. The Google Now page is also integrated into the launcher. It slides out as if it were another page, just like the real Pixel Launcher. It’s basically the Pixel Launcher with extra features. The Pixel Launcher is great, but some people want a little extra functionality.

If you want to give Lawnchair v1 Stable a try, you can check out the Google Play Store listing below. You’ll want to install the Lawnfeed application as well if you want to benefit from the Google Now panel. Also check out the XDA Forum Thread which has more information about the app, including links to the Telegram and Google+ groups.
