Huawei Mate 10 Pro Render Images Leaked by Evan Blass

The Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro, while likely to be overshadowed by the release of the Pixels, are certainly nothing to scoff at. With a leaked set of specifications already for both devices, leaked images for the Mate 10 (including renders) and now leaked render images for the Mate 10 Pro the devices both look promising. Couple these with the launch of the HiSilicon Kirin 970, an incredibly powerful and interesting SoC with a large focus on AI, and we have a couple of potential powerhouse devices. To recap – Huawei claims that the Kirin 970 has 25 times the power and 50 times the efficiency of artificial intelligence processing on their chip than on a traditional CPU core.

Across the front of the renders the letters “AI” are seen, again highlighting Huawei’s focus on artificial intelligence computing. It seems there are 3 colours, a grey, a blue and a bronze. For both devices it looks like Huawei are taking the minimal bezels approach, placing the fingerprint scanner on the back of both devices and leaving out capacitive buttons. The phones look gorgeous, and look really thin for devices packing a 4,000mAh battery. Both will feature similar specs, including the AI capabilities of the Kirin 970.

We should be seeing the announcement of these two devices in October. We are looking forward to seeing the phones in a real world setting, which can truly showcase their design. Currently, just how well the devices perform and how the focus on AI plays out is unknown. With mentions of a makeup mode and object identification mode in Huawei firmware, it seems that Huawei could be trying to leverage the full power of their artificial intelligence chips. With the increased processing power we may see some real fight from the Chinese technology giant.
