LG is Putting a 4,500mAh Battery in the X Power 2, Coming to South Korea in June

LG’s X series is rather interesting as it gives consumers a way to pick and choose which aspect of a smartphone is the most important. LG is then able to use a flagship quality part for that specific device while keeping the rest mid-range and giving it a competitive price. The company has many of these LG X devices on the market today and they have even used them in marketing campaigns for Marvel’s X-Men IP in the past.

We’ve seen the LG X Cam and the LG X Screen which focus on the camera and the display respectively. Then there was the original LG X Power and the LG X Style and this enabled the company to focus on the battery life and the aesthetics/build quality. Then right before CES last year there were rumors about LG announcing the LG X Power 2 as well as the LG X Calibur. Naturally, the LG X Power 2 would focus on the battery life again, but the LG X Calibur was said to have military-grade durability, IP68 water and dust resistance.

It has just been announced that LG is getting ready to launch the LG X Power 2 in South Korea at all three South Korean mobile network providers. It’s unclear at this time if LG will bring the device to other countries, but right now they plan on pricing it at 300,000 KRW (which is about $264). It will have a 5.5″ 720p display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, Android 7.0 Nougat and a massive 4,500mAh capacity battery.

The spec sheet also says it has an unnamed 1.5GHz octa-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. Color availability looks to be Shiny Blue, Shiny Gold, Shiny Titan, Black Titan with a tentative release date of early June. The only other feature of the LG X Power 2 that is being talked about is its rear-facing camera, which is said to have a “zero shutter lag” feature that enables it to take pictures at the same time the button is pressed.
