Sony Xperia XZ3 could have dual cameras on the front and back

Smartphones were fine with just one camera for years, but lately, we have watched a number of OEMs add more cameras to their devices. This began with adding black and white sensors to give the option of shooting an image in that style. This has evolved lately and many companies are just using a secondary sensor on the back for the added bokeh effect. The LG V40 is even rumored to have 5 cameras in total (3 on the back and 2 on the front). The Samsung Galaxy S10+ might do the same. It seems a new trend is to have two front-facing cameras, and a recently leaked photo suggests the upcoming Xperia XZ3 will be following with this trend.

Sony seems to be progressing on this upcoming smartphone as last month we shared some leaked photos that claimed to show the front and back of the device. If true, this leak showed us the overall design of Sony’s new smartphone as well as the dual rear-camera setup that it will have. The company looks keen on keeping this symmetrical as the fingerprint sensor, the two camera sensors, and the LED flash module are all lined up directly in the middle of the back of the Xperia XZ3.

Today’s newly leaked image claims to show us the two dual camera modules that Sony will be using in their upcoming smartphone. This indicates that the Sony Xperia XZ3 will be equipped with four cameras total as two will be stationed on the back and two will be tucked into the top bezel on the front. We’ll likely be hearing more about this smartphone as it is expected to launch in two months (likely at IFA 2018).
