LG V30+ gets Android Oreo update in India with AI Camera and ThinQ branding

LG V30 Plus India Android Oreo

The LG V30 is LG’s 2017 V series flagship. It was announced at IFA 2017 and was launched in a few markets in September. The LG V30+ is a variant of the V30 that comes with 128GB of storage. In India, the company opted to launch the LG V30+ as the only variant of the V30 priced at ₹44,990 ($656). It shipped with Android 7.1 Nougat but is now receiving the Android Oreo update.

The LG V30 first began receiving the stable Android Oreo update in South Korea last year. It has taken LG several months to roll out the update in different markets. In the United States, the carrier variants of the V30 received their Android Oreo updates a few months ago, with the U.S. unlocked variant receiving its update in May.

Now, LG is finally rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the V30+ in India. The update changes the phone’s branding to the LG V30 ThinQ with AI Camera. The ThinQ branding was introduced with the LG V30S ThinQ and later carried over to the LG G7 ThinQ. The V30S is a 6GB RAM variant of the V30. All V30 Oreo updates have included the ThinQ branding and the AI Camera feature.

The update comes with build number OPRR1.170623.026 and software version V20b-IND-XX with the June security patches. It brings AI Camera, a feature that analyzes the subjects in a frame and recommends one of four filters. These filters are based on a total of eight categories: people, pets, food, flowers, city, landscape (sea/sky), sunset or sunrise.

The update is now available to most LG V30+ users in India. Users can also manually check for the update in system settings.
