Lenovo Moto G5S Plus Specifications Leaked: Better Build, Bigger Display, Dual Rear Camera

Lenovo is expanding on the Motorola branding this year, introducing new lineups and variants with minor differences to increase the variety in its portfolio. After the introduction of the new Moto C and Moto C Plus this year, Lenovo is expanding the Moto G lineup with an ‘S’ Special Edition release.

According to Evan Blass through VentureBeat, Lenovo is gearing up for its newest device: the Moto G5S Plus. The new ‘Special Edition’ devices borrow parts of the Moto G5 design and internals but with some key changes. The plastic of the Moto G5 is replaced in favor of anodized aluminum on the Moto G5S. The G5S Plus will also be bigger in size with a 5.5″ FHD display as compared to the 5.2″ FHD display on the Moto G5 Plus and 5″ FHD display on the Moto G5.

The other differentiating aspect on the new Moto is the dual rear camera module. The single 12MP camera module on the back of the G5 Plus gets replaced with two 13MP sensors – one RGB and one monochrome. This will allow the device to offer features like a bokeh effect, background replacement, and black-and-white photography with selective elements. The front camera also sees an upgrade to an 8MP sensor.

Specifications other than these will reportedly remain unchanged. The Moto G5S Plus is said to feature the same SoC as the G5 Plus(the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625) which is not a bad choice in the slightest. Memory configurations are also likely to max out at 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The Moto G5S Plus join the ranks of the upcoming Moto Z2 Force and Moto X4 to sport dual rear cameras. The theme of 2017 is turning out to be dual rear cameras, as every notable smartphone release now bears this as a headlining feature. The Moto G5S Plus is expected to be launched on July 25th alongside the Moto Z2 Force.
